How to Troubleshoot Common Issues with Commercial Propane Systems
Operations don’t need to come to a halt when you run into a problem

If your company here in central Massachusetts or southern New Hampshire uses commercial propane you know how important of a role the fuel can play. Depending on what exactly you are using commercial propane for, you may even go as far as saying that it keeps your business running – literally.
Therefore, it is so important to know what to do when you run into a problem with your commercial propane system. The alternative puts you at risk of having to pause business operations and no one wants to have to do that.
This is exactly why Fraticelli Oil & Propane has put together some helpful tips that you can refer to when you do run into a common issue with the commercial propane systems that you rely on.
Common challenges with commercial propane systems and how you can fix them
Of course every business is different and the way that commercial propane is used changes from business to business. However, there are some fairly universal issues that commercial propane customers can face across the board. Here is a look at some of them and what you can do to go about solving them:
- A fuel leak: There is always a chance that a propane tank can leak. The good news is that you will be able to tell that it is leaking because you will smell something similar to rotten eggs. If you suspect a propane leak, shut off the valve on your propane tank (as long as it is accessible and safe to do so), leave the area and contact your propane provider as well as emergency services. Do not return to the site of the leak until a professional has given you the okay to do so.
- A weak or flickering flame: If you’re using commercial propane to fuel a grill, fireplace or heater and ever notice a flame that looks weak or is flickering you may be dealing with dirty burners or insufficient fuel pressure. Check the regulator and clean the burners to help strengthen the flame.
- Not enough fuel: If your commercial propane-powered appliances aren’t working quite as well and effectively as they typically do, your fuel levels may be low. Check how much fuel is left in your tank and either refill it or swap it out for a full one if necessary.
- An engine that won’t start: This is an issue that you can run into if you are using propane to power a forklift. If you can’t seem to get your forklift running you can try replacing the batteries and spark plugs, making sure the tank valve is fully open and connected, cleaning the fuel filter and regulator and warming the forklift’s propane cylinder if it’s been out in the cold.
